I have taken an active role at a crisis hotline and resource center, starting as a volunteer counselor, and currently serving as a Supervisor and Community Outreach Coordinator. The crisis hotline has guided my personal development and given me an opportunity that is unique from others. Reflecting upon my experiences, I believe that my qualities of leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills have been directly influential in my ability to educate, advocate, and conduct community outreach. The ability to manage people and at the same time handle delicate topics has allowed me to develop the skill set that will give me an advantage.

In addition to my employment history, my academic background has thoroughly prepared me to be successful.  I am an alumni at Oakland University; graduating from the Department of Psychology.  I have conducted research in the fields of visual perception in regards to emotional content of facial recognition and psychopharmacology in regards to substance abuse.  Along with taking an active role in research, I became a member of many organizations. I displayed the ability to delegate tasks, motivate others, and orchestrate cooperation between individuals with different views and opinions. Furthermore, excelling in upper level courses gave me the opportunity to dissect research articles, discuss them in a group, and synthesize articles in a comprehensive literature review.

Most interestingly, in the latter part of my research experiences, I was educated beyond the literature on operant conditioning and applied the principles by shaping rats to press levers. I ultimately used accumulated data to interpret the results in an oral presentation at the Meeting of the Minds Undergraduate Conference XVI. Two consecutive years as a research assistant has given me the opportunity to evaluate research, analyze data, and strengthen my proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. However, my technological skills extend far beyond Microsoft software. I am proficient in second generation of web development and design that facilitates communication, secure information sharing, interoperability, and collaboration.
